Karnataka’s CD boy Rakesh Shetty uttered Prabhakar’s name in sting video

Power TV Managing Director (MD) Rakesh Shetty, better known as Karnataka’s CD boy, uttered Prabhakar’s name in a sting video that targeted former Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah. This is probably K V Prabhakar, who served as media secretary to Siddaramaiah during his last stint as CM.

A special team comprising the Central Crime Branch and Cyber Crime Police, probing the sting video, arrested Delhi-based man Ritesh Pandey on October 24, 2026. He was arrested in the morning and secured conditional bail in the afternoon on the same day. Besides this, the special team questioned Congress leader Krupa Alva from Puttur, Rakesh Shetty, Prashanth Kumar and several others, including a witness in the case. CD boy Shetty has secured interim anticipatory bail from a Bengaluru court.

In a two-part sting video, Shetty can allegedly be heard taking Prabhakar’s name. The alleged video was shot by Prashanth on Shetty’s instructions in 2023. Shetty has also admitted on his live show on Power TV that he shot this video.

In the video, CD boy Shetty allegedly says, “I will contact and speak to Prabhakar.” This suggests that Shetty was saying he would contact Prabhakar (most likely K V Prabhakar) to discuss the video and begin negotiations over deals.

The special team has to collect information from Prabhakar to verify whether CD boy Shetty contacted him at that point in 2023.
