Siddaramaiah showcases bold tech & innovation roadmap at industry leaders’ meet

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today unveiled an ambitious vision to position the state as a global hub for technology, innovation, and emerging industries during a breakfast meet with industry leaders at Hotel Taj West End, Bengaluru.

Addressing ministers, global partners, entrepreneurs, and innovators, the CM lauded the efforts of IT & BT Minister Priyank Kharge in launching KATALYST, which he said would make Karnataka one of India’s most business-friendly states.

Highlighting Karnataka’s leadership in the IT sector, he noted the state accounts for 44% of India’s software exports and hosts over 875 Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with a goal of adding 500 more by 2029, generating 350,000 jobsand USD 50 billion in economic output. The state also boasts over 18,300 startups and 45 unicorns, solidifying its position as a premier startup destination.

On emerging technologies, the CM announced that Bengaluru ranks 5th globally in AI and houses nearly 50% of India’s AI talent. The government’s AI-focused policies aim to strengthen research, training, and infrastructure. Karnataka also became the first Indian state to launch a Quantum Technology Roadmap, targeting a USD 20 billion quantum economy and establishing itself as Asia’s top quantum innovation hub by 2035.

The CM also outlined transformative projects such as QWIN City, an integrated ecosystem for wellness and innovation, and Health City, a life sciences and healthcare hub to boost medical tourism. Other thematic clusters in agri-tech, electric mobility, and green energy are planned across the state.

“Our vision is simple – to make Karnataka the place where the world comes to solve its biggest challenges,” the CM said, urging industry leaders to partner in driving the state’s next growth chapter.
