New IT City planned in Bidadi, Dy CM makes a big announcement
Focus on talent, innovation, and tech-driven growth: D K Shivakumar
Bengaluru
Deputy Chief Minister (Dy.CM) and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said that the state government is considering the development of a new IT city in Bidadi, located in Bengaluru South. He said global leaders and investors are showing keen interest in investing billions of dollars in Bengaluru’s growing technology ecosystem.
Speaking to reporters near his Sadashivanagar residence, Shivakumar said that representatives from various countries have been meeting him daily as part of the ongoing Bengaluru Tech Summit. “Many international leaders are eager to set up industries here. We are extending all possible support,” he said.
According to him, around 50,000 participants — including delegates from 60 countries, major personalities from all Indian states, and representatives from 1,500 leading companies — are taking part in the summit. “These companies will create jobs and generate revenue. Our encouragement is meant to empower them,” he added.
Shivakumar said Karnataka’s talent pool, innovation ecosystem, technology sector, and startups will drive the state towards a new direction. “I constantly tell the younger generation to compete globally. When new ideas emerge, the government is ready to support growth through startups,” he said.
The Dy.CM praised IT Minister Priyank Kharge and KEONICS Chairman Sharath Bachegowda for their work in strengthening the tech sector. “Bengaluru’s environment is supportive for everything. We have 25 lakh IT professionals. Such human resources are unmatched elsewhere,” he noted. The three-day summit will focus on discussions about future technologies and opportunities.
Shivakumar also said the government has been formulating dedicated policies for each sector since coming to power, ensuring consistent encouragement for growth.
‘Criticism or praise — both welcome’
Responding to questions about appreciation from companies for road repair works, Shivakumar said, “We have done our job. Whether people criticise or appreciate, we welcome both. Public service is our top priority,” he said.

YES!!!!!!! VERY GOOD MOVE!!!!! Also, Govt. needs to develop IT infrastructure for Mysore and Mangalore cities – improve the roads; and allow many IT Parks from Bangalore to shift to these cities next. Thereby bringing down rents and property prices and overall costs for living down further cheaper, and making Bangalore a Senior retirement paradise next!
