Blinkit fined ₹80,000 for illegal waste dumping in Bengaluru
Bengaluru:
The Bengaluru North City Corporation has slapped a penalty of ₹80,000 on quick-commerce giant Blinkit after the company was caught illegally dumping waste in a public area along Railway Parallel Road in the Byatarayanapura Division.
The violation came to light during a routine inspection of Ward No. 9, where corporation officials discovered that the private firm had unlawfully disposed of garbage in a public space — a direct breach of municipal waste management regulations.
The enforcement drive was conducted under the supervision of AGM Thirthaprasad and Junior Health Inspector (JHI) Kavitha, who confirmed the violation and initiated penalty proceedings on the spot.
Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar issued a stern warning to the offending entity, stating that repeat violations would attract far harsher consequences.
The Corporation has reiterated its Zero Tolerance policy on illegal dumping, citing the serious risks such practices pose to public health and the local environment.
